Because I believe optimal well being is not just concerning the physical appearance, I studied nutritional health and can advise on diet and provide tailored healthy eating plans for any client. Nutrition, good nutrition, is an area I am keen to educate others on and with this in mind, I developed and implemented a Health and Fitness module for transition year students which has been a great success and which many schools around the country are now signing up for.

My experience and wide range of qualifications plus my enthusiasm makes me an innovative and exciting personal trainer and fitness instructor focusing on each individualʼs needs and goals and guiding them as they reach their targets. Also being qualified in step aerobics, spinning, toning classes, zumba, kettle bells and interval training as well as pilates and nutritional health coaching makes me an all round expert in my field.

I have always been passionate about health and fitness and have spent the last decade gaining invaluable experience and professional qualifications.

I TEACH PILATES

I teach Pilates classes both in my studio and in two different local gyms.  I also spent five years tutoring students in Portobello Institute in Pilates and helping them become Pilates instructors.

SINCE 2013 KETTLEBELLS

I teach two kettle bell classes in my studio per week.  Kettlebell classes are intense and very effective for losing weight, building functional strength and improving fitness.  It is also great FUN!

REMEDIAL SPORTS MASSAGE

I also work as a  Remedial Sports Massage therapist and treat clients suffering from rehabilitation injuries, aches and pains, sports injuries and more.

It is as simple as that.  By focussing on strengthening your core muscles, you are toning from the inside out.  The muscles close to your spine are as important as the bigger muscles nearer to the surface.  Through pilates, you will strengthen these core muscles, improve your posture, flatten and lengthen your stomach muscles, improve your flexibility and co-ordination, develop strength throughout the body and boost your energy levels.

KETTLEBELLS

Originally used in the Russian Army to train soldiers to maximum strength and endurance, Kettlebells are now a commonly used method of training everywhere. Classes are short, tough and very effective for overall weight loss, stamina, body toning, strength, lean muscle definition and general fitness.  Suitable for anyone serious about training and toning.

Classes available in my studio in Greystones Studios according to my timetable.

Personal Training is a great way to achieve your personal goals and having individual attention when and where it suits you is the ultimate way to look after yourself.  PT is all about YOU.  Let’s face it, if you feel good you will look good, as your self confidence will sky rocket and your energy levels explode.  With this, comes the added health benefits to your heart, lungs, digestive system and also the brain, which is our cockpit… Where your head goes, your body will follow.

Programs, location of training and type of training designed to suit you and your needs, requirements, time schedule, family commitments and personal goals.  One-to-one training sessions in my studio or in your home by arrangement.

Diet advice; as a qualified nutritional health coach, I can help and advise you with your diet, whether it be for weight loss or just to improve, modify or address certain food intolerances or digestive issues you may have.  If you feel healthy on the inside, you will feel so much better on the outside – your skin, eyes, hair and vitality improves hugely, leaving you feeling healthy and full of energy.

Weight loss programs; losing weight can be so difficult and we are constantly bombarded in the media by magic diets that promise the world but taste awful and leave you feeling miserable, hungry and craving foods constantly. This is not the solution! You need a lifestyle change that is realistic and manageable for you – that helps you lose weight steadily, healthily and leaves you feeling energetic and happy to continue.  There is little point is losing weight for the annual holiday and gaining it all back in the two weeks abroad.  Wouldn’t it be great to know that you can book a holiday on short notice and the only thing you have to worry about is what to pack instead of fretting about your figure and what you’re going to look like in the holiday snaps.  I can help you with all of this.  Check out my testimonials and before and after pictures.

NUTRITION

Nutritional health coaching has become necessary in today’s confusing world of fast food, convenience food, advertising, food manufacturers claims, loss of basic cooking skills and overexposure to a vast amount of products in our huge supermarket chains.

I have devised a health, nutrition and fitness workshop designed for teenagers which I run in schools.  It amazes me every time how interested the students are – both boys and girls- in the course content.

This course can be run and re-designed for any group, age or number on request.

Good nutrition is about being as healthy and energetic and free from uncomfortable aches, pains, bloatedness as possible. It’s not about weight loss or eating gross things you hate unless you want it to be. Itʼs about developing a healthy and manageable diet that suits you!

One-to-one appointments covering a variety of topics:

  • Weight loss or increase;
  • Dietary advice or evaluation;
  • Food intolerance or food allergy advice;
  • Eating disorders;
  • Dietary advice for the athlete or training for events;
  • Group sessions available on request for schools, offices, families etc;
  • Kitchen & fridge makeover and shopping advice;
  • Supplement advice.

Cost: €50 per session.

WORKSHOPS

Diet, health, nutrition and exercise are a part of all our lives. It is a very current topic and one which young teenagers are bombarded with on a daily basis. It is vital that teenagers and children are educated on the whole topic of nutrition and everything to do with this. Most of them do not fully understand the relationship between staying healthy and fit especially long term and often do not have the knowledge of what healthy eating is really about. On top of this they equate healthy eating to dieting which can be detrimental to their health.

Advertising, marketing, fast food and in general the whole food industry is a very powerful medium which children and teenagers, in particular, can be very taken in by leaving them confused about what is good, bad, safe and not safe for them. Combining this with some practical facts about exercise, fitness and sport makes the workshop I run interesting and beneficial for them all round.

A fun and interactive session is hugely beneficial to all students and pupils, to, at least, give them some basic facts and truths and then give them the opportunity to make educated choices and perhaps, ask questions they’ve always wanted to ask. Every workshop I have done has left me amazed at how interested the students are in this topic and how many questions they ask and facts they want to know.

I have run workshops in several schools over the past two years and am hoping to expand to as many schools as possible. For your information, I have run workshops in Presentation School, Bray, East Glendalough, Wicklow, St Joseph of Cluny, Killiney and Rathdown College, Dun Laoghaire. as well as Crusaders Athletics Club in Irishtown.

REMEDIAL SPORTS MASSAGE THERAPY

Massage is as old as the hills.  It’s hands-on technique and, particularly, deep tissue sports massage help improve circulation, ease sore or injured muscles, improve lymphatic drainage, help alleviate sore neck, shoulder and migraine headache type symptoms, assist in healing injuries, torn or pulled muscle tissues, help realign muscle imbalances and much more.

Clinic Thursday & Fridays by appointment. Treatments for:

  • Sore muscles;
  • Pre or post event treatments;
  • Specific sports injuries;
  • Back, neck or shoulder problems;
  • Persistant aches & pains;
  • Sciatica;
  • Relaxation;
  • Headaches & Migraines.

HEALTH & FITNESS STATISTICS FOR IRELAND

  • One in every four Irish children under the age of nine is overweight.
  • A new study has found 61% of all Irish men and 39% of Irish women are overweight.
  • Obesity rates in men has trippled in the last 20 years in Ireland
  • Almost half the daily food intake by adults comes from meats, bread, potatoes, dairy products, biscuits and cakes. More than six in ten are exceeding the upper limit of 35% of fat in their diet.
  • Fruit and vegetables are consumed by the majority of the population, however, the average intake is less than half the recommended amount which equates to five portions a day.
  • 29% of men and 24% of women in the younger age group are over the limit in terms of their weekly alcohol units. A quarter of men and 10% of women over the age of 65 also drink more than the safe limit.
  • Men, in particular, are also eating too much salt hidden in foods like breads and cured and processed meats — even without counting the amount that they sprinkle from the salt cellar.
  • Younger women are not getting enough iron and folic acid, which can reduce the risk of birth defects. And a substantial portion of the population has a low intake of vitamin D.
  • More than a fifth of men and 7% of women aged 18-64 had high blood pressure, but this rose to 52% of men and 47% of women aged over 65.
  • 22% of men and 23% of women smoke.
  • Another worrying signal of sedentary behaviour was the admission by men and women that they are watching 18 hours of television a week. But 27% spent more than 25 hours a week in front of the box and just 5.3 hours a week were spent on recreational pursuits.
  • Half of those in the 51-64 age bracket are spending “no time” in vigorous activities and this rises to 70% for those past retirement age.
